Just what is a redneck. How did the name "redneck" come into existence. What kind of person is a redneck.

It all started with the picking of cotton. The southern plantation owners found it very profitable to bring in slaves from Africa.

However their was another class of white people in the south who weren't the brightest people on this earth. They had a hard time earning a living so they competed with the black people in their job.

The Black people were smart and when they got out into the hot sun to pick cotton they usually wore wide brimmed hats to protect their necks but these white people, as I said before weren't the brightest people, so they didn't protect their necks and got sunburned. With their rednecks they were easily identified and got to be called "rednecks",

Over a period of time any person that didn't have a full deck were called "Rednecks" Usually these people are of the white race and of course machines replaced people in the picking of cotton but the term "Rednecks" didn't go away.

All of us here today could be called a redneck at times because of some of the stupid things we may do or say. By the way, I'm a Redneck.
